Is This Old Road Bike Worth Anything?

By: EighthInch

We get a lot of questions about converting old bikes into singlespeeds or fixed-gear bikes. Most of the time, the frames are great but the componentry sucks. Petition to Craiglist and Ebay to require serial numbers for bike sales

By: EighthInch

Project 529 is running a petition to help curb bike thievery. As previously posted, there is a special place in hell reserved for bike thieves and this petition could help those poor souls turn away from burgling if it weren't so easy to offload stolen goods.

While not a perfect solution, if nothing else maybe eBay and Craigslist would be willing to put in place some safeguards to encourage buyers to not want stolen bikes and/or make it more difficult for stolen bikes to get online.

The reddit thread is ongoing...

2014 EighthInch Urban Yard // April 4-6

By: EighthInch

In 2014, EighthInch will partner with Fyxation to present the Urban Yard at the Bike Expo in Milwaukee. The Urban Yard is a place for the city-dwellers amidst the ocean of bikes for roadies, families, and mountain bikers. The Urban Yard will feature fixed gear bikes, singlespeeds and cool gear for the urban rider. We're stoked to brign Fyxation on board this year and look forward to seeing the full line of leather goods like 6-pack holders and frisbee holsters they have developed. New in 2014, we're excited to introduce our new US-made EighthInch Dispatch. This bike is 4130 cromoly and is beautifully milled, brazed and welded by guys with bushy mustaches.

Custom fixies and singlespeeds: $449-$669

  • You pick your frame, wheels, parts choosing whatever color and quality combination you want and we'll assemble it for you on the spot. Walk out with your very own fixed gear or singlespeed rig.

On-site singlespeed conversions: $99-$199

  • Bring in your old 10-speed and we'll upgrade it with new wheels and drivetrain courtesy of our all-in-one conversion kit. We do require that the bike you bring in has horizontal or semi-horizontal dropouts.

Introducing: EighthInch Dispatch: $999-$1199

  • We like America, we like bikes that are made in America. We're unveiling our new, made in the USA Dispatch track frame that is as sexy as she is functional. Choose between trim packages and customize this beauty exactly as you want.

Insane special: EighthInch Lo-Fi: $179

Get a barn-burner of a screaming tuna deal here folks. Our EighthInch Lo-Fi, fully assembled and ready to ride for $179. This is the cheapest new bike you'll find in town and lasts only April 4-6 at the Urban Yard.

Bike Polo Supremacy

By: EighthInch

Even in the bitter cold of this Wisconsin winter we find a way to stay busy on our bikes. Check out this shot sent to us of one of our Scrambler’s completely taking over on the polo court. Jake, one of our sponsored riders, and his Hero Squad went undefeated at the Madison New Years Bike Polo Championship. Note Jake on one of our Scramblers (far left) and then note the red blur of the ball flying right underneath the goalies bottom bracket and into the goal. Need I say more.
